Hi MTM, I'm thinking it's more ego driven than rational profit maximization driven.
Here are two comments Cyclone made in response to comments on their Facebook page. (It looks like someone left the computer logged into Facebook, allowing Harry to post messages.)
There's quite a gap between Harry's statements here and reality.
I doubt if any employees survived for long if they told Harry any truth about the engines. When the experienced steam people at the steam car club forum suggested theoretical problems with the engine design, Harry would reply that "the engine is runnin' sweet on the dyno".
Frankie has got to be a world-class enabler. In December she emailed someone stating the Combilift engines would be shipped in 30 days as a bald fact. She's obviously not encumbered by reality, either.
These two are comfortable in their bubble, shooing away any reality that tries to creep in.
My best guess is that the heroic life support isn't an effort to maximize shell value, but to avoid admitting that Harry Schoell, "Ingenious Inventor", who spent 11 years garnering awards and international publicity, is a failure.
