Death spirals need several things to operate:
A gagged T/A (so shareholders don't see the dilution until it's too late)
A large A/S and available shares
Buyers / volume - price is less important

Big price swings help because they sell at that high and cover at a discount to the low over a period of time, looking backward. That's key because when they sell, they already know the price they'll cover at and what their profit will be.

To make money, they need to promote the stock, which they do. And while they'd like to sell at the highest possible price, they'll take $.0001 if that's all they can get because they buy from the company at a discount to $.0001.

Key fact - volume is FAR more important to a death spiral than PRICE.

Competing is intense among humans, and within a group, selfish individuals always win. But in contests between groups, groups of altruists always beat groups of selfish individuals.
