We often say that God is Sovereign. So what exactly does that mean? Sovereignty means that God...as the ruler of the Universe...the creator of the earth and heavens...has the right to do whatever he wants when He wants...and...that He is in complete control over everything that happens. So, on any given day, no matter what comes our way. Can it not be said that God has either sent it directly to us...or...He has allowed it to happen...or...given satan permission to bring whatever our way? What we need to remember is that God loves us so deeply that we really cant understand just how much He loves us. And God really does want the very best for us. However, what God is really focused on in our lives is molding us each day more and more into the likeness of Jesus. So when problems come our way...a job is lost...sickness...finances hit rock bottom...any number of not so good stuff that comes our way it really is all part of Gods perfect plan to get us on the straight and narrow...(outside the grief that we bring on ourselves!) All that stuff that we think of as being a pain in the hind end...is God giving to us the things that help us grow spiritually, help strengthen our faith and trust in Him and to help us be dependent on Him. So yes...it would be nice to walk through the rose garden all our lives but could it be that God knows if it werent for the not so good stuff that we most likely would sorta kinda forget about Him? I mean...often times the only time people really spend time with God is when they are needing something! Think about it.
