You too, ico! You are a fine host- keeping things connected and humming. There's vigilance and work involved in running a board. It's an art. You do it well. We appreciate you.

From Key West last night to Fort Lauderdale today (Friday).
Taking Saturday off to catch up, gather myself.

Memorial Day weekend is "batten down the hatches" here in Miami- and I gather, Key West. Hordes of partiers descend and locals avoid the popular ways, stay close to home.

Didn't have a lot of time to size up Key West but I tried. You live in the Keys if you are a boater, a drinker or seek quiet solitude.
Boating is king. Drinking is ubiquitous and solitude is a given, especially if you live on one of the sparsely inhabited keys.
Key West has its charm but I would chose a quiet key like Siesta Key where I pulled into the parking lot of church at 3AM to snooze when I felt I had to. Walked around first. Quaint, short side streets fanning off US1. Real quiet. Dark sky, dark water. The stars are visible. Beautiful!
