Congratulations on your son bulldozer. I have a grandson that got a 4 year college degree heavily based on math and physics. We live in a pop town of 4000 and there is no large cities in every direction within 100 miles.

If he stayed home, he would have been relegated to factory work making a max of 18/hr with heavy work that one can do only so long and then where are you?

The armed forces have cut down on recruitment and it is quite selective as they now go for the best, but he was only one from Illinois to get in the last naval officer class of about 50 in new Hampshire, I think. Half of them dropped out for various reasons. He graduated as an officer 3 weeks ago in the aviation field so at some point will be up there in the jets.

They moved him to a naval base in pensacola where he will now be for awhile in intensive study. Our aviation guys are far and away the very best. The blue angels are there and one or 2 guys, I forget again the names, (old age) took their training at Pensacola, the first naval base established in the US.

Now making 40 grand with an additional 12k housing allowance for living off base. "Got it by the balls?" Yep, you are right. He lives on the beach with a boat slip. Has a really nice apartment and lives by himself so he can fly his girl down when he has the money as she is a student nurse in Illinois.

Like you are with your son, I'm very proud him. They are both the cream of our young citizens. However, I am concerned with the same as your thoughts below. God bless them both and keep them safe. .. .. nic

So it is fantastic, and he now has graduated and has the world by the balls, but as a parent... be careful what you ask for... Our Son will be in the AF for at least the next 6-10 years commitment and some goofball President may decide to make war...
