To my knowledge and from my experience equity committee members are virtually never compensated from the debtor estate. They are by definition shareholders in the debtor company, so receive their compensation solely from appreciation in the stock's value as a result of their successful efforts. It's a risky business. . . The official EC's retained professionals (lawyers, experts, etc.) are compensated from the estate on an hourly billing basis, subject to the approval and discretion of the court.
