HI Allen, Re: Stockcharts Perfcharts tips and tricks...............

1) At the bottom Left of the graphic you have a choice of the line graphs or the snapshot of the positions gain/loss during the time frame being displayed.

2) 252 days is one full year. That times the number of years you want to view will give you the X-axis value to stretch to. (5 years = 252*5 = 1260 plus or minus a day or two to account for weekends)

3) Clicking on the tiny colored square in the name titles will blank out the data for that particular component. Clicking on the title makes that the zero line compared to the other components (as you discovered).

4) If you set the X-axis to 252 days and then "right click" inside the graph, you can choose "Animate" and it will give you a rolling history of the various price movements on a year-over-year basis. This works with the Line graphs as well as the Bar Graphs.

5) There are other options under the Right Click that you can try, too.
