I'm finding AVX-2 disappointing for what I'm trying to do. The integer shuffle commands are quite limited because of the use of 8-bit masks for shuffling. I'm a bit amazed that they didn't extend the mask size to 32-bits. You can only move four things at a time with 8-bits and that's pretty slow when you have 16 objects to move.

The 256-bit integer extensions are somewhat of a hack. At least the ones that I'm playing with.
