Stan Lee’s World of Heroes premieres music video

Comic icon Stan Lee’s global YouTube channel, World of Heroes, released its first music video as it looks to expand into musical content as part of its “Original Superheroes & Heroines” tentpole program at YouTube Spaces in Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, New York and São Paulo, set to launch this summer.

The video, “Right Now,” is by alternative rock band Never Let This Go, and stars actors Alison Haislip (Team Unicorn) and Banks Boutte (Match). It was written and directed by Jennie Kong (Made By Maggie).

The story follows the World of Heroes superhuman theme, sharing the tale of a man who falls for a troubled woman consumed by her new pyro-kinesis ability, and struggling to find her place in the world. Their union is tested when dark forces exploit superhumans for their own end. The music video style melds the director’s “visual sensibility for magical realistic storytelling, with her love for comic book mythologies,” according to a media release.

Earlier this month, Lee’s company, Pow! Entertainment, announced the launch of World of Superheroes at YouTube Spaces. Select YouTube content creators — including Machinima, TheBrothersRiedell, Adi Shankar and Lana McKissack — will shoot original superhero content on a variety of newly built sets. Pow! Entertainment will offer educational sessions with stunt coordinators and visual-effects experts and costumers, with additional script consultation available with the Pow! Entertainment development team and, in some cases, Lee himself. The videos from YouTube’s World of Superheroes are scheduled to go live beginning mid-June.

Formed in 2012, Never Let This Go is fronted by David Kleinebreil and Matt Graham. “Right Now” is the first single released from the band’s upcoming new album, Believe, which will be available May 28.
