We have two Retina MacBook Pros in daily use. One was purchased last August or September and the second was purchased in December. Neither of them have the problem that I saw with the screen coatings on a forum discussing the problem.

If it is really widespread, then Apple will eventually do a recall on the problem or get the screen vendor to pick up the costs for it.

We both have Swissgear packs that we use for transport and these are pretty well cushioned and we generally store the bags upright when there's a laptop in it so that the weight of the other stuff in the pack doesn't put pressure on the device. I don't know if that matters - some seem to think that it isn't pressure related while others indicate that it's the space bar or trackpad.
