17:29 EDT - Twitter (TWTR) revealed it spent $86.6M on two acquisitions in 1Q, according to a securities filing. The two acquisitions were live-streaming app Periscope and Niche, a talent agency for social media stars. The bulk of the amount is expected to have been spent on purchasing Periscope in January. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that TWTR paid a little less than $100M for the live streaming app. The company also disclosed it agreed to issue shares of the company's stock with a total value up to $38.2M . Periscope, which launched in late March, has been at the forefront of the live-streaming phenomenon, but has also drawn attention for the volume of pirated streams of the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight this month, raising questions around its ability to combat online piracy issues.
