Think about it, a Utah based treasure hunting company opens an office with boats and crew in Key West Fl. No lack of trying, finds out local EPA regulations puts a dampener on treasure hunters. So they didn’t cry all the way back to Utah. They find an existing company in a foreign land and pay several hundred thousands of dollars to sub-contract, when that ends the foreign country gives DBM a contract of its own. Very few contracts in the history of that island were ever awarded. Then within the first week discovers in their area one of the oldest known treasure wrecks of all the Caribbean. On a roll right? Nope along comes Unesco and wines and dines a few officials and bribes their way into having the DR rid itself of treasure hunters. Meanwhile their own people loot the very wrecks discovered by the contractors. And renege on their contracts and keeps all the treasure.
Hard to keep running a company under those circumstances.
Had the treasure been divided as according to the contract, and renewed existing contracts DBM would still be in business. And because they were still on a trail of treasure..well you never know where they would be right now.
