Indeed, many bacterial species already possess modestly effective resistance mechanisms, including peptide degradation, sequestration, efflux, and chemical modifications of cell walls and membranes to reduce HDP binding; resistance to HDPs can be selected in the laboratory."

Nonetheless HDP mimetics are an improvement over all other classes in anti-resistance.
