A pp closes whenever the money that comes in reaches the target amount. The company takes the money as it arrives, so it might be a few players in this closing with some of them investing weeks ago - waste of time guessing who or when the money was placed in nxt's hands.
The financing company always plays a cat and mouse information game where the investor does not know if he will get filled if he waits too long. All the theories here about someone knowing something when he got in are just speculation - it is possible since any insider is permitted to participate in a pp - but also possible the investor was just like us knowing nothing more than he likes the odds - this is a difficult sp to time your entry with so much blue sky potential hinging on an announcement coming with no warning (even a surprise to mgmt after first close per their newsletter) as you can see just over the time while they have been doing this current financing.
