It depends. Usually if its a small amount of debt it is put on a reasonable repayment schedule that would allow the company to re emerge. If its too much then there is some risk. Chakitta banana filed chapter 11 drop from $10 to $0.50. One year later shares intact reemerged and it opened at $10.
