Perspective: CC-1807 appears highly effective against carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE). CRE is a superbug. Much of the recent worldwide discussion is directed toward superbugs such as CRE. CC-1807 is a big deal and extremely valuable.

Pharmaceutical chemists will continue to explore variants of CC-1807 and other chemical entities to further optimize gram negative coverage while maintaining effectiveness against CRE.
