Someone said that Student Connect is obsolete because all cell phones have tracking on them. While it is true that all phones have tracking on them, if a kid wants to skip class, the tracker will not tell a parent that. In addition, not too many parents will spend their time checking to see if the kid is where they should be at in the school, if they even know where they should be.
Student connect has been updated to provide real time alerts to parents when their kids are not where they should be,(skipping class) in addition to being in school. That tells me that Kay knows his crap is border line obsolete, and is working to stay relevant. In addition the new scaled down Halo2 is more cost efficient, and is perfect for places like AT&T who like to spy on their techs in the daily course of business. This device is actually better than the current system that AT&T uses because it can be accessed in more ways than the system they currently use. (Kay get the hint)
In regards to Kay paying himself more than some would like, it is what it is. No different than Congress paying them selves obnoxious pay and hardly working, or CEOs of Banks getting bailouts, and going on vacations with the money, etc, etc.
Apparently Kay knew Vir20 looked like $hit so they are in the process of revamping the user interface. Good move. They still have contracts with book sellers, and music resellers and I logged in and still see user activity so it should eventually work out.
In summary, I notice a lot of stuff going on out of the country. Dubai will be a grand slam if the pilot proves successful.
The school district transportation supervisor that I spoke to said they were still testing, but he loved the product. This thing still has the possibility of making something happen. There are other tickers on here with contracts with Northrop Grumman, and one ticker with a contract with Boeing. Nothing has materialized to this point, and it has been years. Things take time in a startup, and some times the drawing board has to be accessed on multiple occasions to get it right.
