Very good description of the action seen in the gas as far as I'm concerned.

As for the coanda effect, I think that DTC was looking for an example and this was the closest he found.

Yes, it doesn't show the effect.

It does show a similar effect to what would happen inside the tower. Heavier gas flowing through a duct in the base.
