The market for marijuana edibles is exploding, particularly in those states that have legalized cannabis for medical and / or recreational use.

There are now sites that sell marijuana edibles, sites that rank them, sites that offer recipes so you can make your own cannabis "tasties", and sites that just discuss what is available. Many of the online stores will deliver orders secure and discreetly right to the customer’s door.

Since many marijuana edibles mimic "normal" looking cookies and candies, they are a more discreet way of using cannabis when in public.

The Result of the Growing Sophistication of Marijuana Edibles Users
With the growing sophistication level of customers regarding the various strains of cannabis and their hybrids, most products will have explanations as to the specific strain of cannabis

and amount of CBD and THC levels. that is in the marijuana edible.
Some manufacturers offer the same product with sativa, indica , or a hybrid strain. But what makes a “good” edible? We believe that there will always be, as with all food, a matter of personal taste. However in general, most people want an edible that taste goods without having a strong or even noticeable marijuana taste, and be easy to divided into portions, so you know how much marijuana you're ingesting.

Because cannabis affects each person differently, the conscientious manufacturers try their best to ensure a consistent and enjoyable experience for their recreational customers/ medical marijuana patients who use their marijuana edibles. You may read that many manufacturers utilize CO2 extraction as the method of getting their cannabis concentrate for their products. CO2 extraction sometimes referred to, as Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE), is known for being the most effective way to extract beneficial essences from plant matter such as cannabis. One of the key considerations in selecting liquid CO2 as the solvent, is the excellent degree of selectivity, which can be achieved in the production of a high potency standardized extract of cannabis. Being able to verify the quality of and efficacy of the cannabis extracts is critical to insuring potency consistent product. Anyone who has made his or her own marijuana edibles knows that consistency of potency is not easy to attain.

Some manufactures of marijuana edibles also are aware that some customers want organic products. There are a number of edible marijuana products that state that their ingredients are all organic. And for the gluten intolerant there are gluten-free cannabis infused products also available.

Underestimating the Potency of Marijuana Infused Edibles

Many people underestimate the potency of edibles made from marijuana. There should also be concern that children can accidentally ingest some kinds of marijuana edibles since so many of them are in the form of sweets, cookies, cakes, candies, etc. In states such as Colorado where recreational marijuana is legal there have been cases where both adults and children were sickened after eating pot-filled edibles.

Colorado Legislation Initiatives Regarding Marijuana Edibles
As a consequence, in 2014, the Colorado lawmakers are advancing a measure to broaden a ban on certain types of edible marijuana that would include products mimicking other foods or candies.

The lawmakers are trying to prevent accidental ingestion by children who are unable to tell the difference between a regular cookie, lollipop, or gummy bear and look-a-like marijuana edibles. Responsible packaging may help. As opponents of the potentially restrictive bill pointed out, it is also hard to differentiate between alcohol drinks and fruit drinks when they are both placed in clear plastic bottles! Parents need to be more responsible about leaving about edibles infused with marijuana when there are children present.

30 Minutes To 2 Hours
Awareness that marijuana infused products can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to take effect is important to those who want to partake of cannabis edibles. It is very easy to overindulge when eating something, which is sweet and tasty.

Responsible manufactures are beginning to label the “activation” time of their products as well as list the serving size and dosage. Many people do not realize that eating cannabis edibles is different from smoking. The “high” tends to affect the body more than the head. People who are more familiar with the effects of alcohol should know that edible THC products work differently from alcohol. The best advice is to go slow when first trying any marijuana edible, whether it is drops, some type of beverage, or candy, cookies or some other tasty product. So please be responsible and keep all marijuana edibles out of the reach of children and pets, just as you would medications or alcohol.
