French customs seizes 2.25 tons of cocaine from sailboat in Caribbean

A Silandra sailboat carrying 2.25 tons of cocaine was intercepted on Wednesday by French customs officers, the agency says.
Talk about the high seas.
A sailboat in the Caribbean was carrying 2.25 tons of cocaine when it was intercepted by French customs officers, authorities said.
The illicit haul was a new record for the agency.
The Silandra boat sailed under an American flag, apparently an effort to disguise the nautical narcotics voyage, authorities said.
The agency busted the vessel on Wednesday more than 125 miles off the coast of Martinique after a two-year investigation. Authorities arrested three Spanish nationals and a Venezuelan aboard.
Below deck they discovered massive blocks of cocaine wrapped in plastic.
The total was more than a third of the total amount of cocaine French customs seized in 2014.
