Excitement, or extreme interest if you don't want to sound emotional, can easily be inferred from the following quote. You should also note that it indicates that they are not ready to meet their 2020 goal, so I think this is why we see no demo videos that are even near to being ready for city driving from Nissan:

At the meeting Mr.Spencer was asked two important questions by the Nissan representatives:
1. How does GeckoSystems' self-navigation AI software, GeckoNav™, work?
2. How would this technology recognize and respond appropriately to urban stoplights?

Two hours later, after saturating two whiteboards, these Nissan autonomous car researchers were well informed as to how GeckoSystems "does it." Mr. Spencer candidly discussed how fundamentally different sensor systems are sensor fused within GeckoSystems' navigation system. Dr. Shimomura confirmed that Nissan was using an approach similar to that used with GeckoSystems' software navigation system, GeckoNav, and the company refers to this as a "biologically inspired hierarchy". At the end of the meeting, the Nissan attendees assembled two sets of the self-copying whiteboard presentation by Mr. Spencer for internal usage and distribution.
