Jim: I am not sure how much a “ton of money” might be. If Huawei does end up paying anything for past sales it will probably be less than LG might pay. The following are annual Worldwide Mobile Phone Sales to End Users for selected companies as reported by Gartner (000 omitted):

I also believe that good portion of the Huawei sales were sales in the Chinese market which might have a lower royalty rate than other world wide sales.
