That's pretty high for an Atom-based device though.

You have to look at the build quality, storage, and display size - not to mention the stylus support, which requires a higher-end touchscreen. Surface is a premium device. Atom only lowered the entry price by a couple hundred dollars.

If you want to think of it this way, it's the same price as the iPad Air 2, except it has 4x the storage, and the stylus for free. And it runs Windows. For some people, that's a negative. For others, it's a must-have.
