Yes and no. You are amplifying the point that a judicial appointee may have certain political biases in accord (or not) with whomever recommended the individual for appointment. Such a reality could represent a decision making bias in this instance on patent litigation. This is a totally legitimate point in my opinion and you have expressed it without indication of bias or inflammatory rhetoric. Awesome!

However, the original posts made the point you amplify upon in a manner conveying an underlying political bias (in this instance anti-Obama). Some posts impugned the judge by questioning her intelligence, ability to read, etc. based upon who had recommended her judicial appointment and reflected a clear political bias. As pointed out in post 18420, this kind of content has no place on an otherwise excellent discussion board.

What I find most troubling however was the use of the portmanteau "libtard" which seems to be a blend of "liberal" and "retard". I find this offensive and inappropriate. The same would be true of using "contard". Either is likely to affront anyone of the opposing ideology but both are a cheap shot at people with developmental disabilities. It is an affront to their humanity and dignity. I happen to have cared for men and woman with developmental disabilities very closely for many years. They are often maligned, but I can tell you they are very decent human beings and do not deserve, in my opinion, to be mistreated on this stock discussion board.
