American Idol Top 7 to 6

NOTE: Last was perhaps the best week of this season for talent putting up some true effort. As usual, I took my notes before hearing the judges thoughts or reading other reviews.

- - - - -

Tyanna - Why Do Fools Fall In Love, I thought it was a good song choice for Tyanna, but while she put in a decent effort it was lacking in heart - no emotion. Again I think her youth and inexperience really shows. Grade C.

Poud Mary - Another lack luster performance, she gave it a good shot; she tried. I think she just needs more experience - maybe she's done at this point. Grade B-.

Clark - Superstition, I think he did well, but it hard to know for sure because once again the band was too freaking loud! However, as good as it was, it was not his best. Grade B+.

Moon River, Excellent! Another glimpse into the multi-faceted talent of a soon to be star. However, I could be partial as this is a favorite song of mine. Grade A+.

Jax - Piece Of My Heart, I like this song so it was good to see Jax step up and put her heart into it (pun intended). I think this was side of Jax we needed to see, and I thought she did the song justice. Grade A-.

Beat It, boy did America pick the wrong song for her here - it was weak and takes away from a good effort in her earlier work. Grade C+.

Nick - American Girl, he's getting better, not a great performance but not bad either, especially for Nick. Grade B.

Only The Good Die Young, Shock, this performance was better than the first, he truly surprised me with his best performance yet. Grade A-.

Quentin - Are You Going To Go My Way, not my favorite song, and I don't think this style fits him at all; America got this one wrong too. However, he put up a good effort, but I believed he still failed. Grade C.

Sound Of Silence, Wow another pleasant surprise tonight. I think this was Quentin's best performance; I really liked it. I think as good a this was, I believe it would have been even better without that ugly nose ring that I swear I can hear interfering with his vocals - but still, but still he was good. Grade A-.

Joey - My Funny Valentine, America choose a good song for her. While I have heard many do it better, I think she did very well with this song. This was her best look and one of her strongest performances. Grade B+.

Somebody To Love - America got it wrong here! Bad song choice and she proved it by putting up one of her worst performances; this could send her home with her being in the bottom two. Grade D.

Rayvon - Long Train Runnin' is great song, but not for Rayvon, it again shows he his limits. However, he surprised me by giving it a good effort. Grade C.

Always On My Mind - America picked a great song for this singer, I was shocked at how good he was, credit where credit is due, I think he just sent Joey packing.

Went Home: Well, it was expected sooner or later, and Rayvon stepped and earned his spot in the show last night making it sooner for Joey.

Going Home Next: In order -Tyanna, maybe Nick and possibly Rayvon; while Rayvon steeped big time last night, he is still very limited.
