STONY BROOK, NY--(Marketwired - April 14, 2015) - Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (APDN) (Twitter: @APDN), a provider of DNA-based anti-counterfeiting technology supply chain and product authentication solutions, has been featured in multiple publications, following a media event on April 10 in Huntington Station, NY, announcing plans to utilize DNAnet® kits for home asset marking.

The company has partnered with law enforcement and government agencies in Suffolk County, NY, to utilize DNAnet. A revolutionary technology based on botanical DNA, the DNAnet home asset marking program is being piloted in 500 homes in Huntington Station, NY, at no cost to participating residents. The pilot is expected span six months and is intended to help police determine the efficacy of the program.

William Spencer, M.D., Suffolk County Legislator (D-Huntington), said at the media event, "We are announcing a cutting-edge resource…This technology can make communities safer. DNA is the gold standard. I'm excited that Huntington will be one of the first in the nation to trial this technology."

At the same media event, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone stated, "We are looking at every angle, every avenue possible to reduce crime and make communities safer. And I think…this new pilot program, using this new DNA technology…which is from a company that is based here in Suffolk County, which we're very proud of…this is another technique that we can utilize to try to reduce crime and make our community safer."
