I am not often one for government regulations, but am really hoping that proposed new FDA Reg of listing added sugar is enacted! I was diagnosed diabetic last August, but fortunately my doctor was not a pill pusher. Granted, I was not totally gone, but my insulin resistance was on its way. Was 7.9 A1C. Doc gave me 60 days to make a total diet change, but had to promise to go completely carb free for those 60 days and as processed sugar free as possible. also wanted me to stay away from citrus fruits and berries for the start. Went from 7.9 to 6.6 in 60 days. From there, he gave me to Feb, allowing some minor uses of carbs and sugars, but had to be very choosey. Went on to get down to 5.5 A1C last month and very likely have reset my system.

Of course, I can never go back to my old diet, nor do I want to. Feel better than I have in 20 years and 60Lbs lighter than last August. Toughest part is not having my beers! Have gone to Vodka and Soda. However, hard alcohol and no carbs in your system takes some getting used to! I learned the hard way on that!

If anyone here ever needs diet tips to reduce their blood sugar, more than happy to give you a few.

FYI, Doc told me that 90% of people would have chosen the drug route. It is sad to think how many people would be that lazy given the choice? Of course, some have progressed so far as to have no choice, but those that did have one like me overwhelmingly choose drugs? For goodness sakes, that includes pricking your fingers for life to test your blood, shooting insulin and taking untold amounts of pills that just eat away at your slowly!
