Ariad is a highly speculative stock and never should be invested in by a pension fund. If your claims are as you indicate that this type of investment is par for the course for pension funds (which I doubt), then this would only support the decision of the court that the Ariad lawsuit was frivolous, and needed to be decided in the favor of Ariad.
