TRCPA - I am not sure why I am surprised that another major company is looking at the KDS. Interesting opportunity for Geophia/Dole. I am finding a large number of studies have been done in the last 5 years or so on the uses of banana fibers. Who knew it would have value in absorbing oil and other hydrocarbons. On the one hand I am hoping it never finds a big market given what the absorbtion mats are for. Unfortunately though, it is a big market for the mats and other products already. To have one that is all natural though certainly would be a huge advancement. Knowing the KDS was identified as a piece of equipment in the process is rather exciting stuff.

I will dig deeper into this one over the weekend.

It might also be interesting to see if there are any results for the CEA use of KDS processed material. Hopefully they are on track with their project plan to produce 1 million liters of bio-diesel per year. My calculations tell me they will need more than a few more KDS's to process all of the material. I know JF suggested the KDS wouldn't be the right machine for such a large volume of material to process. At first glance I had to agree with him. What I have found out though, the powder coming out of the KDS produces a far superior bio-diesel both in volume and quality. That seems to be the primary driver for using the machine and presumably getting more as the project picks up steam.
