Well, the sky already fell, I agree.

Reality is the cd holders blew up the float and destroyed liquidity. Must have been pretty confident they could get money interest back into this stock, otherwise their investment is just as toast as retail...

How does money become interested here? Simple.

Funding
Remove past leadership
Initiate and promote exciting INDs with Andrews
Isolate baggage
Structure for forward momentum (JV/spinoff)

Very plausible and viable paths.
