Hi again Suji, I just Googled the Aloft. Very nice, good weight room. I admit my choice of Landmark, where we stayed last visit, owes to my lack of adventure. I'm familiar with the brand and in all locations the breakfast is almost worth the price of the room. For good breakfast and service, if you ever go, the Aria in Santorini is also memorable, brought to your specifications to your private balcony with champagne and a view of the Aegean Sea.
Back to Thailand, my first visit was R&R. The bars were go-go affairs that I despised, so when a taxi driver knocked on my hotel door and offered his exclusive service at $11 per day and introduction of a girl at another $11, I agreed. The amount was not inconsiderable, since my USMC income was $175 a month, including $65 combat bonus. It was worth it. The first girl was gorgeous, but a bit raucous, so we didn't hit it off. The second was less beautiful but still lovely and sweet. We spent four days together and she even invited me to her home to meet her mother, aunt and infant son, whom she all supported. I understood why she did what she did. I had joined the Corps because I was too poor to buy enough food to feed myself for a month. For some of us, Asia gets in your blood: Yin Yang, martial arts, ceremony in daily life, Joseph Conrad.
As to topic, WM is pffft, lads and lasses IMHO.
May as well do travelogs. dkl, I for one am very interested in hearing more of your Cuba trip(s).
