The instructions were at one time in the public domain. But you are confusing physics and technology. How a rock flies through the air is physics. How you launch it, the catapult design, is intellectual property. The requirements of said catapult are again, public domain and can be calculated with simple mechanical physics. The actual implementation is intellectual property. Why is this so confusing?

Anyone can learn the physics of nuclear fission.

As an example, take the gun style, nuclear weapon. One must fire a mass of material into another mass of material to create the density required to initiate fission. How much mass and at what velocity can be calculated. What if the mass was huge? What if physics dictated that the mass would be far in excess of anything we currently possess to lift it? Now imagine Pickett comes along and says, "I can lift it high enough that when it falls, it will have the velocity required to initiate fusion." That height is easily, and I mean stupid simple to calculate. It really is nothing more than multiplication. The only piece of IP in that, is the technology in the machine that will lift the mass.

One can also calculate terminal velocity in our atmosphere. This complicates things but it can be done. Now what if the velocity required to initiate fission is higher than the velocity the mass will achieve as it falls? Then, the system will not work and you would have proved it with any knowledge of the technology our imaginary Pickett used to lift the mass.

Take it a step further, and say SWET will attach rocket motors to the mass to assist it in overcoming the limitations of terminal velocity. Here again, we can figure out the thrust required to ensure the mass has the velocity required to initiate fission. What if the velocity is so high, that it would result in the mass burning up in the atmosphere? Again, did anyone have to ask Pickett about the technology of his rocket motors? No.

The whole idea that they've got magical equations that violate the laws of physics is just plain misguided.

PS. Glad I could clear that up.
