Part of the time in the 82nd Airborne I was a designated instructor on the .45 semi-auto. I really enjoyed that time, although it ultimately cost me my hearing. But I got to shoot unlimited amounts of ammo daily. The guns themselves were old, some made up of parts from several others, rattled when you shook them. But they were true 1911s and never failed to shoot and feed and eject. Much fun. Sold the last one I had long ago. I no longer shoot. But I once did.
