There is a little known powerful effect on us from inadequate "methylation" that can cause cancer and numerous autoimmune diseases. About 40% of our population has a mutation of C677T or A1298T. Very few medical practitioners are even aware of the MTHFR mutation.

The C677T mutation is most troublesome because it can be a catalyst to autoimmune disease and a progression into other disease mechanisms. I have C677T and have experienced that progression until I finally discovered a blood test that led to diagnosis. It is difficult to manage and needs substantial diet change plus balanced supplementation. If you have this, you absolutely must avoid folic acid because your body can't convert it and you will develop toxic levels.
