But not important at all. Almost no gold is consumed the way other metals are, so yearly production is only a tiny fraction of the total supply of gold.

If someone is using this irrelevant fact to promote buying gold, they are either a con artist or are exhibiting a basic misunderstanding of the gold market, and I would look at anything else they wrote with a very jaundiced eye.
