HempMeds, a subsidiary of Medical Marijuana Inc., is planning some aggressive moves to expand this year.
The company said it expects to add roughly 100 employees in 2015 to its new San Diego headquarters – which currently has 52 workers – as it ramps up its Dixie Botanicals line of hemp-based CBD products.
HempMeds acquired the product line from Colorado-based Dixie Brands last spring for $6.8 million as part of a deal to resolve a lawsuit between the companies.
“Having the Dixie Botanicals brand here at home, we’re going to be able to take this brand to another level,” said Marcos Agramont, director of operations for HempMeds. “We’re expecting to grow our 2013 revenue numbers by 30%.”

Dixie Botanicals products are already available in all 50 states, Agramont said, and the company plans on bringing those goods to more than 40 international markets as well.
In addition, Agramont said HempMeds will start a line of health and beauty products under the Dixie Botanicals umbrella and look into the vaping market.
