On Tuesday July 1 of 2014, Tennessee officially joined the ranks of those states that have passed laws allowing the cultivation of industrial hemp for research purposes. And if all goes well, state-authorized plots of hemp crops could be popping up as soon as May 2015.

“We’re getting in on the ground floor,” Waddell explained.
