DEC had the Rainbow (x86), DecMate (essentially a word processor that could run a few business applications), and the Pro which was a PDP-11. I bought a Rainbow - paid something like $3K-$5K in the early 1980s I think. The Pro would have been in that ballpark for price.

I had a coworker that bought an Itanium system which he put in his basement. One of the benefits of being an independent contractor.
