It's more a distribution center than a wholesale center, i.e., not really designed for customers. The idea behind it is to cut costs and it's one of five "spokes" in the distribution chain: WC1 (no distribution), Shanghai Distribution Center, restaurants/hotels, big box retail (Tesco), and e-marketing.
The big test with this demonstration project is the static electric refridgeration, which significantly speeds up the aging and defrosting process (from 48 hours down to 12 hours). It will get the beef to the market at zero degrees. It remains to be seen if it works as advertised.
