There was an article about a cloud company that used retail drives and runs them 7x24 and they published failure rates and Seagate's were horrible compared to Western Digital. This came out in the last two weeks.

Seagate generally pushes the limits of tech while I find that Western Digital produces more reliable but less bleeding edge technology.
