KUALA LUMPUR: Mondrian Investment Partners Limited has emerged as a substantial shareholder in AMMB Holdings Bhd with a 5.2% stake.

A filing with Bursa Malaysia showed the UK-based fund had raised its shareholding to 151.46 million shares as at Jan 20.

The shares were purchased in the open market, according to the filing. Based on the AMMB’s paid-up of 3.014 billion shares, its shareholding represented a 5.2% stake.

Another filing showed Mondrian Investment Partners bought another 1.11 million shares on Jan 21 and raised the stake in the banking group to 152.57 million shares.
