FPG,

Believe it or not, I say give Intel the full monopoly over x86 that they crave.

What B.S. After an entire decade arguing against this, NOW you say Intel should have a monopoly?

What, did you finally realize that the antitrust lawsuits did nothing to open up the x86 market to competition? That it was just a huge money grab by Hektor the Dissektor, Neelie the Terrible, and Prince Cuomo?

Did you finally realize that high tech changes too quickly for said antitrust regulations to have any meaningful impact whatsoever? The antitrust lawsuits against Microsoft should have already given you a hint. Yay, now you can choose which browser to have as your default on your Windows OS. BFD.

Oh, but maybe antitrust law can put the fear of God (or whoever wants to play Him) into the current big players in mobile, such as Apple, Google, Samsung, and Qualcomm. Fat chance. They're never going to embrace open standards unless they're "leading from behind." They're always going to shape the markets in order to benefit themselves at the expense of their competitors.

Competition is for losers, says Peter Thiel in his excellent Wall Street Journal essay: http://www.wsj.com/articles/peter-thiel-competition-is-for-losers-1410535536?autologin=y

The sooner you figure that out, the more likely you are to support those who are actually moving technology forward. Here's a hint: Those people don't include Hektor, Neelie, or Andrew.
