I never heard of a company actually trying to drive the stock price down so that insiders can buy up at a cheap price. But if this is the case, then surely you don't want to be involved.

Remember that the trend is your friend. Buy something that is trending up, not down.

If the insider wanted to won everything, they would not have gone public in the first place, but presumably they did because they needed capital. So now that all the capital has been raised, then they buy back stocks on the cheap? If this is the case (not saying it is), but if it is, then do you want to play this game?
