For once, Harry was most modest in his claims. What do you think causes explosions in coal mines? The now late inventor behind Summerhill Biomass even included metal among possible fuels in his incredible patent, only ignoring gunpowder that has been occasionally brought up. Maybe he thought he had already shot off his mouth too much.
I believe you would have loved the demonstrations held in old barn building with a number of engineers involved in discussions.
I got a great kick out of one young engineer who had just spent two or three years in Oregon on some conversion project. He enthused that this was such a great time to be alive with all the development needed. He also told me the Portland area was an island of enlightenment in a sea of yokels. I come from the most "yokel" of all areas in the state. We even had more than our fair share of Tennessee hillbillies but fortunately no Al Gore.
When I got to the meeting, I asked the inventor if I was speaking to Mr. McKnight. "It's Dr. McKnight," he stiffly corrected me. I mentioned the outfit that did the powdering when he asked how I got to the demo and suddenly I was his best friend. While the good Ph.D. averred that he had other options, he was clearly happy with the product of the micronizer that has been used, among varied other projected purposes, for specialized tortilla flour and soft clay material for remediating contaminated areas. Utilized with waste wood and other biomass, it saves on energy by utilizing heat provided by the processing for drying and sterilizing thus eliminating the need for use of the firewater-producing natural gas that Irishman Barack Obama thinks is as green as a shamrock.
Unfortunately the company is atrociously mismanaged, even giving away its patented technology to China for internal processing of sewage for fuel and fertilizer in order to further development.
No company ever more richly deserved its skull and crossbones
Please be warned and alternatively not blame me if the company soars like an eagle. When you get stuck in an illiquid investment... well, you know the script.
Summerhill biomass had a contract with a local chain to be a beta site for heating as you suggested but I heard nothing before learning Dr. McKnight might be getting heated himself these days. The company seems to have fallen into the hands of university MBA types. An insane asylum would be preferable IMO.
