Hydraulic Fracturing or Fracking continues to be the engine that is powering the U.S. to unlock our own great shale oil and gas reserves. Here's a very good news story on the process I that just came across. Be sure to click on the link at the bottom to download the infographic presentation...

Oilfield Services Provider McAda Releases Hydraulic Fracturing Graphic

Lively infographic designed to help understand oil and gas development process known as fracking.

Denver,Colorado (PR MediaRelease) January 15, 2015
Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a key process in the successful development of America’s oil and natural gas resources. It is also a subject of ongoing controversy across the nation.

Now, McAda Fluids Heating Services has produced an infographic that explains fracturing in clear, simple language and illustrations.

Often misunderstood, fracking involves using water pressure in a carefully controlled process to crack, or fracture, part of a layer of solid rock up to two miles below the surface.

Fracturing of wellbores drilled thousands of feet down and additional thousands of feet out through rock layers allows operators to tap into oil and gas resources that were previously disregarded as too difficult and expensive to produce.

Often referred to as shale plays, development of oil and gas through horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing in North Dakota’s Bakken, Texas’ Eagle Ford and Pennsylvania’s Marcellus has ushered in an era of increased production and reduced imports.

The McAda infographic highlights the difference between conventional oil and gas resources and those from unconventional sources such as shale oil, heavy-oil sands and tight oil. Also examined are the steps taken, materials used, protective measures and costs involved in fracturing a typical well.

The hydraulic fracturing infographic is available online (see link below) and can be used as an informative and educational aid in understanding how this important process has unlocked abundant new resources and helped ensure America’s energy future.
