What would stupid scientists know compared to an engineer?

You take Stanford R. Ovshinsky, the unschooled physicist whose amorphous semiconductors revolutionized numerous technical fields of endeavor such as energy and computing

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_R._Ovshinsky

was completely outclassed by Albert Einstein who confessed his guilt to cheating to obtain a degree from any school that didn't throw him out.

Even Google failed to find Einstein's autobiography he labeled Epitaph. Try to throw that word in and you get lots of epitaphs but not the inimitable Einstein saying he gladly bore the guilt of his cheating for the pleasurable free time it afforded him.

Surely no respectable engineer would ever associate himself with such reprobates and most assuredly not with the geophysicists who do research into global warming. Of course, the geophysicists are tolerable when they are finding oil.

For certain Harry Schoell is very inventive, more than a whole heap of engineers, but not in the way most of us had hoped.

Some engineers are very inventive too. Herbert Hoover comes to mind most easily these days when we never quite attained the same kind of deflationary success an engineer like Hoover did despite enormous effort.

Best, Terry
