Well Hyr I heard back from Sam. Apparently to separate pros from amateurs they have earnings rules in place in eSports where one has to hit a certain level of earnings marks. These small cash tournaments would take a person quite sometime to reach pro status. One maintains amateur status until he or she is playing in MAJOR tournaments put on by Riot, EA or Blizzard. That's Sam's understanding.
