Earlier today I received an e-mail from Sam @ Good Gaming. As we've observed there has ben a lot of tweeting going on with regards to the Tournament. Some of it has been not the most flattering. Good Gaming's tournament had the largest turn out in Blizzard's history of tournament plays. The guys at GG as far as I'm concerned handled all the adversities that transpired exceptionally and I applaud them for all of their tireless efforts. I am posting what Sam sent so others here can see the 'other side of the coin' so to speak.

Hi Jim,
The Qualifiers did take an exceptionally long time but this not unexpected for largest HearthStone amateur level tournament ever held. There were no system failures or technical issues other than a hacking attempt on our TeamSpeak server early Friday. Most of the delays were due simply to player error and inattention to details. For many players this was their first time in a tournament of this magnitude. We took careful consideration of many factors to include language, culture, style, and experience to make the instructions as accessible as possible. No doubt we learned quite a bit and we believe we will improve as time goes by and players become accustomed to the etiquette and standards of serious gaming. Another factor that extended the length of the qualifiers was the tournament format -- the Swiss System. The Swiss System is the system that the majority of people were requesting as it is believed to provide players a fairer shot then the round robin format. It was also the official Blizzard format. The Swiss system is also believed to be fairer because players do not face the specter of being eliminated after an unlucky break or poor role of the RNG dice. In theory this style should be faster but this also presupposes that all players face little or no real life challenges or issues when conducting a massive tournament and can follow simple instructions in a timely manner. With that said we are putting the finishing touches into an innovative tournament style solution that we will implement for our next tournament.

We had no issues that were show stoppers and we can definitely have a more efficient qualifier next tournament. We expect the actual tournament to run very smoothly and we have included some of the great testimonials that people sent us yesterday. We know there were some negative ones and also some very untrue ones also posted – please use this information and pass along as you see fit

LionHeart330#1878: thank you no problem, is the first time. I would participate again on a future tournament

Marrionette: I'm going to drop out of here. I just finished my current match with DirtySyko#1368 with him getting the win and I really need sleep before my shift tomorrow. Thank you guys for your hard work, I know it's not easy, especially with all the people that are quick to spam and anger. At least you sounded like you were having fun. Just letting you know so you don't have to search for me later.

Khanthiilas: i know you guys had a momentous job and some of those ppl were impatient and nasty, i guess prize pools attract all sorts, i have had fun amongst the stress and some new buddies so thanks. now im going to rub my wives nose in the fact i qualified, we will just keep the details quiet though lol, nite and thanks again.

Lovely: Hi there, First off, I want to thank you for giving us amateurs such an awesome experience. Don't listen to the whiners!

hektikim thanks for the fun, i got my butt whooped in the first 3 rounds... cant handle anymore,#1970 on bracket 1 if you didn't remove me before please do now.

Wildrage
ps, give my regards to the team, they have done a great job considering how high strung everyone is and everything you guys have done on such short notice. you guys should be proud. I know how hard it is to run a tourney, especially one this big

I know you guys are doing your best. It has been a struggle, but growing the community is difficult. No matter what anyone says, I appreciate your efforts..

Believe me, there are many people who appreciate it. They're just drowned out by twitch chat style antics. Everyone suffers from it, even blizzcon. Just stay strong, stay professional and put on a good show and good gaming can get through this. People don't need any special restitution, they just need to see that you're capable of something of amazing, which you are. Make it through this hatestorm and what could stop you guys? That's how I feel when playing some times. When you win the psychological battle, the card game becomes the easy part.

Thank you, Sam
