Shorting provides liquidity and short squeezes that are sometimes epic on the long side of things. My biggest wins have be shorts getting bent including big guys like Nate, it happens to everyone at times. If the company is legit, there should never be a problem. With the advent of algos and dark pools shorting is never a problem. The real problem in the market is HFT, spoofing, and front running retail orders to scalp them.
