This is the first article I see that uses the term "de-escalation" in police situations.


The philosophy of de-escalation is based simply on the notion that during moments of confrontation, pulling a weapon should not be an officer’s default option. That notion runs somewhat counter to the tradition of having officers present a posture of authority and control. And it runs counter to a trend toward militarisation of police departments as they take possession of hand-me-down military equipment and weaponry.

Interesting, and another way of using the V-300, way beyond the competition's reach….
